IM not quite sure why you would be doing this but thats cool, I have tried before and I can hardly make the rear wheels skid on dark.

your rear drums and shoes are not as new as they used to be and thus diont have all of that initial bite

Parking brake...

Mine sometimes skip some steps and goes to the floor, is it ajustable on the outside of the hub or do I have to open it. I have to rebuilt my brakes because somtimes when I it the brakes the truck's rear goes sideway to the right, I assume that the drum are not ajust equally or finished out.

Do all of you use your parking brake on a regular basis? You need to do this to keep the self-adjusters adjusting. The motion of the parking brake ratchets the little adjustment wheel. Also, the adjuster should be cleaned and lubricated after so many years so the link that operates it can turn it instead of just pushing it out of the way.

Recall

Recall notice did any of you guys get a recall in the mail saying that the parking brake pedle was coming off the hinge tehy will replace it free of charge

i know my drums and shoes are like new cause i checked them like a week ago, does the little ratchet adjuster thingy only effect the parking brake or is it somethin that effects the regular brakes too? is there a way a can "tighten" up my parking brake so it will engage sooner(sooner when compared to where the pedal is) because the first 2/3 of the way it does absolutely nothing but after that i can then feel it start to kick in.

If your pack brake skips some steps you need to take to FORD and have the recall done they will install a parking brake wedge that goes on your parking brake control.

The ratchet affects both the parking brake and the regular brakes on the '91. The ratchet controls the distance from the brake shoe to the drum. As the brakes wear, it slowly moves the shoes out so you don't get increased pedal travel. If your regular brake pedal (Not the parking brake) seems to have normal travel, there is an adjustment to the parking brake cable under the left side of the vehicle on the outside of the frame. In the cable you will find what is called a cable equalizer. It is a threaded rod that runs through a bracket and has a spring attached. By tightening down the nut, you put more tension into the parking brake cable, which will cause the parking brake to engage sooner. According to the manual, for a '91 or '92, to adjust for cable stretch (good probability in a '91), you first fully apply the parking brake then turn the nut 6 turns. Release the brake and check for rear wheel drag (There shouldn't be any). If the brakes are still loose, continue doing this until the parking brake applies enough pressure to hold the vehicle, but does not drag when the brake is released.

If your regular brake pedal does have too much travel and your fluid level is right, backing the vehicle up and slamming on the brakes a couple of times can adjust the ratchets

Recall..

Do you know if this recall is for US only, or for Canada too. I called my dealer and he said no recall for my truck, so I wrote to Ford to get some answer.
