The Jackhammer is a overhyped hunk of crap.

Audiobahn made a 32" subwoofer a while back.

Don't forget that it sounds terrible, has little power handling, doesn't get loud, and can get butt-raped by many companies' 12's. Oh, wait, you kinda said that. Clarion also had a 32" sub, and several are still made, I think, for the pro sound market. Incriminator has a 21" for cars.

I never meant that it was the best, just using it as an example. I ran across this and it had the most media coverage... thats all. I actually don't even like MTX... never have been too happy with their products.

haters...

I saw one these in an excursion at a show a little while back and it sounded great. You can make any woofer sound good (provided its not blown) with the correct amp and box:thumbsup:

Pound for pound the Jackhammer is crap. It is horribly inefficient...the enclosure size requires a minimum of like 16 cu ft IIRC. Power handling isn't good for a sub of its size like Infinity already said. Just to put the sub in your vehicle you must weld up a supporting cage and highly upgrade the suspension and electrical system.

People do better numbers with single 10 setups.

I just really really despise the Jackhammer lol.

I think the whole idea of the jackhammer was just for it to be huge. if they built it efficient, it would be half the size and no where near as appealing.

I'd be worried about shattering all my windows!!!

perhaps a 60" sub?

It would sound like HELL in that car with no sealing at all!

I wouldn't

Me neither ;)

Actually, Infinite Baffle tends to be the most natural sound available from an enclosure (actually just a HUGE sealed box). That's how RC's bread truck was done. It was also powered at like 50,000 watts using GE medical amplifiers. I think I read that it measured over 150db's at like 14hz or something insane. It was just to prove that he could.

RC did something like 163 at 6 or 7 hz with that bread truck. That was on the old TL so around 153-156 now id say. Pretty impressive really.

The jackhammer is infact junk. T3 is comin out with a 24" which should be pretty interesting soon.

when we are doing a weight to good sound/rms ratio, i completely agree with you lol. but to each his own I guess. It does get you a lot of points in competitions to have one though. Not my cup of tea, but it impressed a lot of people

For the price of that Jackhammer.....$6800 on the net I believe....I could build an entire system that would absolutely destroy that thing. Ghetto hype is what I would call it.
