when to replace plug wires and coil

Are plug wires and coil the kind of items that you replace periodically? If so how often? Never done either and have over 292,000 but runs pretty good. Should probably do it since they aren't too pricey.

Plugs and wires every 100k miles if using platinum plugs.
I prefer copper plugs and change them at 60k.

Coil only needs replaced if it goes bad.

About a buck a plug. Platinums will last longer by about 50k miles or so.
I choose copper because they are cheaper and just as a personal preference I don't like the idea of something with such a fine thread being in the block especially if aluminium for that long.
Prefer to swap the plugs at or around 50K miles just to be on the safe side.
