Hy guys , in Saudi the car repair streets (if you can call them that) run Glycol Green and Oil Black! .....and i'm not kidding! .......it doesnt affect the locals.....the inbreeding takes care of that
I used to work for one trucking company that would filter the used oil and mix it with the diesel fuel and run it in the fuel tanks on the trucks. I had a very puzzled look on my face when I was told about this, but it is legal and helps lube the cylinders. It doesn't smoke any more than you would expect either. You figure with 80 trucks and eack one carrying 11 gallons of oil in them, it is an easy way to get rid of it. But we go 25,000 miles between oil changes.
I work for the MDE - Maryland Department of the Enviroment(in other words the Maryland EPA). Here in Maryland our county land-fills accept motor oil for a small yearly fee. I think most counties charge $5.00/year. Also, like previously mentioned, auto-part stores accept used oil. But please do it with permission, and not after-hours.....
AFter i drain my oil, i run it througha custom filter, I make sure I get all the metal shavings out, and then run that stuff back through my 5.4! Its great. I like to be environment friendly if you konw what I mean.
Thats just freakin stupid. First of all to claim you have a 5.4 is outrageous. Second that probably does more environmenta damage than using new oil. Go back to rice town where you came from.
Just out of curisoity did any of you think that maybe he has more than one vehicle... Take Matt Adams, he has a 94 X, and a F150 with guess what, a 5.4!!! Ask before you assume guys...
But I'd like to hear more about this filtering system... I can't imagine it makes the oil usable again...
You can filter out the shavings but what about the whole point of changing oil in the first place? It breaks down! If it didn't break down all you would have to do is change the filter. I don't think it is a very good idea to re-used old oil that is broken down, you won't get proper lubrication and we all no no lubrication is bad on so many levels.
Well I wrecked my Saleen, and I have a perfectly good Engine sitting there. So I hooked up with a buddy at one of the local body shops, and he helped me make some custom mounts and custom fab the whole job. 2 months later, I'm smokin em down in every gear. Lost the 4X4 capibility, but I'm haulin ass. When your as broke as me you tend to find other methods, then just "buying new oil" I'm in a Racing team. Broke Dick Racing. no explination needed.
Next time I am in Houston I would love to Check out your Explorer. I wantto swap a 5.0 in my Explorer and If I check out your Explorer it might give me some ideas...
Here in Dallas I take large quantities to Safety Kleen as I do a lot of oil changes. the parts stores give me grief for all the oil I bring in. I use old Kerosene buckets for storage. Safety Kleen will take old gasoline, house paint and anything else for nothing if you are a dallas tax payer. I only wonder how many people still dump oil on the ground!!
