I suggest having a rear exit right before the bumper. This way it will never get squished against the bumper when you wheel.

I have been debating this too. But I have squished stuff between the rear bumper and the wheel before:( , my driverside tuperware has the kinks to prove it

I say go with whatever Borla makes an exhaust for. You can't go wrong with Borla

um, dumping under the truck (and going to the side also) is illegal and also dangerous.

Nothing's illegal if you don't have inspections, but yes it is dangerous. Carbon Monoxide is deadly and you don't know it is hitting you.

well, it's still illegal even if you don't have inspections and you can get a ticket for it.

I'd say it should exit out the exhaust pipe!!:D :D :D :p :p

Actually, I'd say whichever leaves the pipe higher off the ground.

i think you should put a huge semi-syle pipe go up the back of the hatch...that is always good...nice and high..

Haha, j/k

I saw a 55 chevy with dual semi syle pipes right up the back window, and it was cool..

hmm....55 chevy stepside and an Explorer, close enough

TarHeel085 please tell us how that ravin sounds, they are cheaper than flowmasters but I was worried about getting one b/c ididnt know what it sounded like but I do know what a flowmaster sounds like, which is what I want
Thanks
Gary

well i got it done yesterday with a 3" side swept its in about the same place as addkev's. as for the ravin- ITS LOUD! when you take off its really loud but then it calms down once you get into 2nd and 3rd gear but it sounds BADA**! ill try and get some sound clips of it. its not real loud when ya rev it but it is drivin down the road.

well here are some pictures of it. im still workin on sound clips.

Looks very nice... that is how I want mine eventually set-up. Although I CAN have a turndown at the rear axle because I have a 'truck bed' with the Sport Trac. State laws usually only provide that you clear the passenger cabin!!! ;)

So I may go that route. Let us know if you get the sound clips up. It looks real good.

It is against United States Department of Transportation to have the exhuase exit on any passenger vehicle before the rear axle

you may not have inspections, but any police officer can give you a ticket for this...

Illegal?

Last time I checked, Lightnings had a side exhaust before the rear axle. So do Vipers, some Corvettes and lots of modified Mustangs. Mercedes' new SLR has a side exhaust right behind the front wheels. Either it isn't illegal, or the law isn't enforced.

Regards,
John.
