I want a to add a set of driving/or fog lights, but do not want to have to add a brush guard or sarafi bar. I want a set of round, maybe 6" or so, lights that will fit on top of the bumper of my '98.

Anyone have pics of what I am wanting? Thanks for the input.

take a look at leebo's pics...i have his lights now, but they arent mounted.

Will those fit on the bumper of my '98? I'm not sure if there is much difference. What brand/model are they?

Thanks

they are 6 inch hellas. they are just attached by drilling 2 holes one on each side

Anyone have pics of their '95-2000 explorer with lights mounted on their front bumper? I want to know if I should invest in a Safari Bar to mount the lights to, or just put them on the bumper.

Thanks.

I'd suggest getting a Westin Safari Bar over drilling holes in your bumper. You can pick up a bar with the mounting kit included, and free shipping from www.oreillyauto.com for only $129.99. That's the best price I'd found anywhere.
But if you decide to mount them on the bumper, I'm sure PIAA 520s or Hella 500s are both 6" lights and thin enough to be mounted on top of the bumper without contacting the grill.

Thanks for the info. The only thing holding me back from getting the Safari Bar is whether or not it kills your approach angle. If its not too bad I will invest in one for $130.

Yeah I hear ya about the approach angle. They do hang down a pretty good ways. In fact I think they even mount to the frame by going under the air dam. That would make it the closest thing to the ground under the bumper, so I would guess your approach angle would suffer some.

I like what 2001ExpSport did with his Safari Bar, integrating a skid plate he made. I saw it in his thread under before and after-skid plate. It looks like he mounted the Safari Bar higher up after he removed the air dam. I'd like to know how he did it.

Shoot him an email and ask him. I'm sure he'll be glad to tell you. The only trouble is, I see that yours is a 98. Some things may be different that may prevent you from doing what he did. Couldn't hurt to ask.
