Whining noise continues

If its bearing noise itll go quick if it continues for a while gears but gears is my guess
And yes gears whine or "howl" tends to go away and come with accleration/deceleration

Well then it's my ring and pinion and I'll have to get them replaced. Money money money. Any idea on a price range?

You dont have to get them replaced unless you have money and cant stand the noise to the point its driving you crazy, every explorer ive ridin in or owned does it but to answer your question ~$250 for the cost of gears and more for the install

Hear me out. What if I just changed the ring and not the pinion. I'm sure it will continue to make the whining sound but what would yall think would happen?

Called a local transmission shop. Guy said it would be 500 for a ring and pinion change. He said I could take it to the shop and leave it there so he could see what the problem is. Hope everything goes well.

ALL ring & pinion gearsets are MATCHED to each other, lapped-in together on special equipment.

If you REALLY want to hear gear noise, change out ONLY one or the other! imp

Well in the end it was my ring and pinion which had went bad because of the seals. I paid $850 dollars for the fix. My truck sounds quite when going down the road and not like a siren.

Yep!

Even new, matched sets can whine real bad if not broken in right.
