you have the delphi fm modulator? if so remove the am/fm antena cable going into the head unit and plug it into the fm modulator, then the fm modulator plugs into the am/fm antena slot in your head unit.

XM Satellite Radio

With the JBL audio system the tuner is not in the control head (dash). The control head contains a cassette player, audo amp for the door speakers and control circuits but the radio tuner is located somewhere else. Found a receiver in the jack compartment but I suspect it's for the wireless key entry system as when I inserted the output of the XM modulator there the audio still sounded weak and noisey. I have tried to follow the lead from the antenna but it gets lost in the wireing. The tuner (reciver) can be almost anywhere. My Explorer XLT has a 5L V-8, AWD. The sound system is a stock JBL with a sub wolfer and electric antenna. The amps in the control head appear to be running class "A" as they stay very hot, which for class "A" is normal. When I use the cassette adapter with the XM receiver it sounds great but I don't like the idea of the cassette player running all the time.

If anyone wants complete a XM system, including the antenna power supply and cassette adapter for under $100.00 (including activation) let me know and I will email the information how to get it. It is liget, it called XM for friends and family.
The system is available for your car or home.

I just installed a xm setup in my 93, I'll take pics soon when I install the thunderform I plan to pick up. I installed a pioneer premier p740 along with the pioneer 900x sat receiver. being I plan to use the head unit and external amps I installed the 900x where the for amp went behind the right side panel in the back. ran the data bus to the head unit along the head liner under the trim to avoid running along power lines in the floor conduit raceway. antenna power was taped off the factory amp wire harness.
Warning!! if you plan on using a thru the glass antenna make sure it is attached properly and or seal around it, if not you will get moisture in the antenna base and lose your signal, most people are having better success with a external wired antenna, it's that on SUV's thru the glass is a easier install.

I called the local Ford dealer and after telling him over and over again the radio was not in the dash he looked it up and sure enough the radio (receiver/tuner) is located next to the sub amp on the pasenger side just in front of the rear wheel. So after taking everything apart in back thought that now it would be a piece of cake, NO the stupid RF connector is not a standard auto RF connector. So after rerouting the RF cables from the XM Modululator to the pasenger side I had to cut the ends off and splice into the Ford RF line to the receiver. Now every thing works great. I just wish I had known how much trouble it was to become before starting this project. I don't know if I would have done it this way. But it's done and everything is back together and working great.

i have been running sirius since it first came out, had the system installed in my ranger and now in my X... although i have yet for some strange reason been able to get it to work in my X, i think i got a bad antenna.... also just had it installed in my wife's blazer using the fm modulator and they replaced the factory tape deck with the display.. looks really good...

i'm running the kenwood eXcelon head unit so i'm not modulated, but i love sirius, and i'm sure XM is just as good....

i just like the fact that with sirius there are NO commercials none, nada, zilch... from what i understand there are some on XM... coupled with the fact that i'm a kenwood fan it made the decision easy for me...

I have xm in my Freightshaker,Sport Trac, and the ol'ladys ride.never be without it again.Oh yeah the house too."BONEYARD" rules.

Hello all,

I have the Sirius Satellite Radio, I love every minute of listening to it. I had an existing Kenwood Receiver and CD changer when I decided to get the Satellite Radio. So in order to keep my existing changer I had to get a new Kenwood Receiver and Kenwood only works with Sirius. But Sirus is worth the extra $3, I haven't heard 1 commercial yet. I love it.

I don't even listen to crappy FM radio anymore, CDs I listen to maybe 10% of the time. If at all they are MP3 CDs. Trust me Satellite radio is WORTH the money!

here are photos of what's in my '92 X Sport 4x4

JBL 6.5 components in the front doors, JBL's 5x7 in rear panels, 2 12 inch JBL Subs in sealed box, 8 year old JBL Amps, MTX Crossover, Kenwood 10 Disc Changer, Kenwood CD/MP3/FM/Satellite ready Receiver.

My girlfriend actually bought it from Circuit City. It has just come out recently and they are the only ones who I have seen carry it. Best Buy has either the huge ones or window mounts.

I am my boss' only employee in a small home theater business and we're getting into XM. We've just attained dealership status. So far I've had a tuner in my truck for just a few days and i love it. I have a Delphi SkyFi running thru a cassette adaptor into my stock head unit. It's nice in Vermont...If you think you have crappy FM radio, i guess one upside is you can get less crappy stations thru the hills here. XM is a godsend! Unfortunately though, the hills and mountains play the same number even on satellite reception. i've had a dropout of up to a minute, but some antenna tweaking might alleviate most of that. My boss also wants me to get into installing these into cars, so if anyone in the new england area is interested in XM, let me know!
