I looking into buying new shocks. I put four new Monroe sense a track shocks in about two years ago. they really seem to let the truck bounce around alot. I noticed this even after I just put them in. My Explorer is stock and I tow my Mustang and trailer around occasionally with it. i don't go off roading with it. thanks

Bilstein by far. They are the oldest and most trusted company around. They provide the best ride possible.

Bilsteins are great shocks. I have Monroe Reflex and they are pretty good. They are firm without the harshness.

I also have the Monroe Reflex on mine and they seem to be pretty good when towing a 6,500 lb boat.

I have Gabriel VSTs on mine and you can't beat the price. I've had them for two years and I think I'm gonna need new ones in the next year, but for $60 for the 4, I don't mind.

IMO they perform almost as well as the pricey shocks. I've towed, raced, and offroaded with them without any problems and a very good ride.

add on another vote for the bilsteins :D

Not meaning to push my shocks on you but I bought a set of Bilstiens off a guy from the forum here and they are too short for my lifted Explorer. Anyways, I've got them posted in the for sale section and only want $55 +shipping for the pair compaired to Bilstiens $60-$70 a piece. Check out the ad if interested and let me know if you're interested.

BTW they're for the front.

I had a Monroe Sensatrack also and after 1 year I replaced it with Bilstein two weeks ago. I drive 100 miles everyday, 5 times a week and I can tell you the difference. Sooo much comfort with Bilstein shock. My carpool even noticed how soft the ride was compared to the Monroe. I should have not tried to save money buying the Monroe. :bounce:

I switched from the stock shocks to the Edelbrock's (all 4) but don't think they are much better than the stockers. Based upon this poll, I think I will try the Bilsteins too. Can anyone recommend a good place to buy them and what price they paid?

Just order them from Performanceproducts.com. Each cost $64.95 or Explorerexpress.com (i don't know the price)

i purchased Old Man Emu shocks two months ago. They are AMAZING. They're made for 2" lifted explorers only. Front shocks are absoloutely fantastic. Rear shocks are a little stiff, gives you the pick up truck feel, but they're made for heavy load capacity as well as wheeling capablilty. Made in Australia. Great stuff. I really can't say enough about them. Great compression, you bounce back up and no bouncing afterwards. Same price as Bilsteins, and from what I've gathered bilsteins don't make shocks for lifted explorers as of yet.

Bilstien doesn't make shocks for lifts? Even 2.5? What are most people running with lifts?
