Who wants to go to Los Coyotes Oct 17-19?

Check a map, officer! It's off the 79 in Warner Springs. We camp in the main campground, and yes it's trailer friendly. There may be an extra few buck charge for the trailer.

Looks like I'll be missing this one too :( Char's break started yesterday. Next week we're heading out on a 10 day vacation to Bryce, Zion, Arches etc.

Since we're going to Moab the 25-26 of Oct. I don't think it would be wise to do Los Coyotes the week before. How about if you guys join us in Moab instead :D

Ok well, I got my transfer case problems sorted out completely now. Everything works properly again and I dont have to get under the truck to lock it in low range. Just need to get the alignment problems sorted out now, but that wont keep me off the trial.

I will most likely be joining you on saturday but not staying out there for the weekend. I also think DB_1 will be joining me, as he does not have his shackle hanger issues worked out yet.

Edit: If anyone has a good pic of my truck from our Big Bear trip could you email it to me so I can get an avitor up.

One question.. Is there any chance i can make it thru? I'm now locked, but was curious..

some of teh trails you could make it 2wd. The real killer will be not having lowrange cause you will heat your tranny up pretty good on some stuff as well. 2wd isnt the best out there.

I might beable to make it out for a day if I am still living down here.

Okay, I looked it up on a map and I see where Los Coyotes Indian Reservation is located. The map I have does not show the entrance to the reservation and/or campground. Is there more than one campground? If so, where do we camp? I might get there first, since I will be leaving at 0630 hours (that's 6:30 AM for you civillians) and driving straight out there from the end of my shift on Friday morning.

I am still thinking about going out to Big Bear and just kicking back in the forest for 3 days with no real off-roading, but I can't decide.

Big Bear.... Los Coyotes....... Big Bear..... Los Coyotes......

when you turn off of camino san ignito or what ever the roads name is off of 79 is you will go back that about 7-8 miles to the pay booth. from there it is about 2 miles in to the camp area. the camp area has a big water tank on the right side of the road. This is an old one made of rock not one of the new ones in there. you can camp in the area on the left of the road or right before the tank (about 20 feet) is a road going to the right that leads back to more camping areas as well. Most of the camp spots have runniing water as well from the last time I remember anyway.

coming from temecula on the 79 it is the First right after the Gas station in Warner Springs can't miss it you will go back through a residential area then the County maintained roads end.

I think you mean the first left. A right will put you in the golf coarse parking lot. The next road after that to the right i dont think is till you get to hwy 76

I'll be a definate maybe for this run, I finally have some time to work on my truck next week so i'll see how it goes.

Anybody going to be there before Friday morning?

I am leaving work in Oceanside at 0630 hours and driving straight out to Los Coyotes (hopefully, I will get off work on time, like I never do). I figure it will take me as long to drive home as to drive to Coyotes, so might as well just go straight out, set up and take a nap out there.

Are the camp sites marked off, or can you just camp anywhere in the camping area? Do I need to try and hold any spaces, and if so how many??

Questions need to be answered. I sure when I get there I will find out this was not necessary, but since I have never been, I would like to get some information. If someone can give me the phone number to Coyotes, I can call myself.

So far, it only looks like maybe 4 people are staying overnight, right?

I think it will take a bit longer to get to los coyotes then it does to your house by about 45min to an hour longer

Pretty much camp where ever the areas arent very marked off but general camping sites are kind of naturally setup. The best area i think is if at the water tank you go right then kind stay right where ever it forkes and just kind of take this road till it ends. It dead end into a nice round area that everyone can pull into and has a bunch o shade from the oak trees.

I doubt you need to hold spaces only times ive seen problems getting camping areas is on busy holiday weekends.

Dont know the number for out there. im sure it is on this site somewhere though.

If i make it it will just be on saturday probably for the day.

One recomendation I would make weather i go or not is to on saturday morning head strait for the back side of the reservation and run teh trails back there first. I have always ran the close stufff then was mad i ran out of time for the more challanging trails farther away from camp.

Hope some of this helps brian.

Brian, even though it says 'gate open Friday 10AM, I'm pretty sure you can go in earlier. The gate is not actually closed, that's just when someone is at the booth collecting money. You can go back later and pay.

Turns out my family won't be coming with me. I still plan to go up Fri after work.

Thanks Bill, I am still planning on driving up right after work in the morning. Means I should be there by 8:00 am at the latest. I will call to confirm in a few days.

Do you have a preferred area you like to camp?

I'm probally gonna sit this one out. But I will out there more soon. I'm picking up Jefe's old 3" body lift today. Then I just need to come up with some Skid plates and some 33's:rolleyes: and I'll come out and play more. That and I think after the BL me and my dad may build some sliders for it. :D

Any one wanna trade some year old 31's for 33's?:D

Have fun!:D
