I think he is a designer, more like hugo boss than carol shelby

Eddie Bauer Opened a sporting goods store in Seattle in 1920 with an 'unconditional guarantee' probably the first store to do so on the West coast.

He was most known for the quilted down clothes the US Military used since about 1940. Bauer clothing has been a staple of expeditions to the ends of the earth and the tops of the highest mountains and many other extreme condition adventures.

The company struck a partenership with Ford in 1983.

No "Eddie Bauer" stores in Montreal? We've got them in Western Canada, several stores in Calgary.

You're not missing much. Eddie Bauer stuff tends to be overpriced. I can't remember the last time I actually bought anything there. I use MEC for most of the things you might consider getting at EB anyhow.

i got an Eddie Bauer Tent...it's nuts 10 man and fricking huge...and i have an Eddie Bauer Store in the mall....it's mostly expensive dress clothes nothing I like

They were bought out by Speigel several years ago. It has been down hill ever since. They were close to chapter 11 last year.

REI was started in the basement of a house in West Seattle in 1938. Outdoorsmen were looking for mountaineering equipment and not much was available, so some friends got together and bought quanities of equipment from Europe for their group they usually had more than they needed and began to sell the excess.

REI is still operated as a Co-Op. If you get a membership now, your number would be around 4 million or more. My dad's number was 27833, that was from 1962!

MEC is the Canadian equivalent of REI. WAY better pricing than REI, even when you consider the exhange rate. Pricing is always well below retail or MSRP. REI's pricing is often similar to other retailers.

I'm a member of both.

REI is too costly.
I prefer Bass Pro or Dicks for my camping goods.

( yes I know this post has NOTHING to do with the question at hand )
