who's got the fastest X

im trying to see how fast in the 1/4 these things can go and wat kind of modifications were needed to motor,tranny, suspension on awd v8 thanks

Troll deffinetly has the fastest Explorer here. No one can challenge him. Alec is supercharged, and so is Pur Pony. There is also a member with a supercharged Saleen X. Diablo also has a supercharger and nitrous sitting in his house waiting to be installed on his V8. The only thing is, all these guys are 2wd.

Troll's is faster than 11s, that was what he last ran, before doing a lot more modifications...... BUT JUST FOR REFERENCE, IT IS GOING TO TAKE TIME AND MAJOR $ TO MAKE AN EXPLORER FAST, THEY WERE DESIGNED AS A TRUCK AND THEY ARE HUGE....IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN SPEED, THERE ARE A LOT OF CHEAPER CHOICES TO GO FAST

I do believe that Troll is the fastest Explorer around.
Jim is correct, you are going to spend alot of money on modifying an Explorer to go fast, but go for it.

im not looking to go 11s that is wat my mustang is for im going to rebuild it and throw a blower on and be done with it any one have similar idea wat do you run thanks for responces i didnt realize people make these things go that fast i didnt think the tranny could even hold the much power

Look over in Sport truckin' , there is a thread " The need for speed " or some thing along those lines over there. Plenty of info to get you wanting a few more zero's in your pay check.

With 33" tires I'm running mid 15s. While not very quick compared to other vehicles, when you consider what it is it is very quick. I would run faster if I didn't run out of gearing. I have 4.30s in the rearend which cause the truck to get winded about 2/3 down the track. Lemme put it this way: if I kept the same rate of acceleration that I have from 0-45 mph I'd be running low 14s easily. As it is, I'd probably be in the high 14s with stock tires.

With the V8, AWD, and stock tranny (I'm assuming V8 because the V6s don't have AWD); you can probably have about 350 hp reliably without blowing anything. Just an informed guess though.

Texplorer, not all the x's you speak of are 2wd, the saleen x is awd. I'm sure of that. And from what it seems, troll might have the fastest x on the planet.

jcar, opps I didnt know that Saleens were all AWD.

Scorgnetic, the only Explorers that are AWD are the V8 explorers. The rest are part-time 4wd.

The only thing part-time 4wd means is that you are in 2wd until you put it into 4wd. Your not always turning all 4 wheels at the same time, like AWD. In the 95-96 your in 2wd till you turn the knob to 4wd. In the 97-01, you are in 2wd till the wheels slip and then 4wd engages.
