Well if ya wanna get technical, the shore is where the land meets the ocean, but "down the shore" always meant Asbury Park, Pt Pleasant, Seaside, LBI, Wildwood, AC; Any where there's a good boardwalk, rides, attractions, and games of chance. Seaside was not always the trashy town it is. It went down hill back at the end of the 80's, into the 90's. MTV did their part to keep it that way, but at least gave it an economic infusion. I was there this Summer, after many years. I had to say, the boardwalk was just the same, just too much of that short fat chick from the show. Rides, games, bars w/ bands. Jack and Bills, Beach Comber, still there and doing well. There's a huge influx of Russian college kids that come for the Summer to work the boards, and that just proves the constantly changing ethnic make up of the town. Sure, it's still guido-ville, but Seaside is an NJ landmark, good or bad. It's not Cape May. It's the poor man's Cape May.

well said even though it is nice going down there every summer. i enjoy pt plesant, not as many people as every other place down the shore!

Pt Pleasant is so much fun. And when coming from 07054, it saves that much time on the parkway compared to SSH, or LBI! I HATE the parkway!

I used to play in bands at Jenks. Still have tons of friends that still do! Me, I'm too old to do those late nite gigs, but have no problem going to listen to them!

yeah its an easy day trip from up in southwest sussex lol ya need more than a day to make SSH or LBI any fun being they are nice but far away, and not to mention the gas price in an explorer!

Well if you live in Toms River, then going down the shore means going south but to all us Northern region peeps go "down the shore" to Seaside. Any thing south of Sandy Hook and on the coast is down the shore!

I live in Toms River and to me, "down the shore" means going to the beach, whether its across the bridge to seaside or lbi or going down south. That's how many people I know who live here use that phrase. :dunno:, thats just my experience.

I don't go to the beach much myself, so maybe Im wrong.

Any of you local Jersey guys got experience with lifts and such? Lookin for someone to help put on a 4'' RC lift...

i can give you a hand, but my schedule isnt very flexable unfortunately :(

That's what I always thought. Down the shore=to the ocean beach, where ever it is. "Down" doesn't necessarily mean South. I was just going on what bstarz65 said.

Haaaa perfect! If I was ever to join a Jersey 4x4 club, the logo would have to somehow have this icon incorporated into it hahah.
