Well if ya wanna get technical, the shore is where the land meets the ocean, but "down the shore" always meant Asbury Park, Pt Pleasant, Seaside, LBI, Wildwood, AC; Any where there's a good boardwalk, rides, attractions, and games of chance. Seaside was not always the trashy town it is. It went down hill back at the end of the 80's, into the 90's. MTV did their part to keep it that way, but at least gave it an economic infusion. I was there this Summer, after many years. I had to say, the boardwalk was just the same, just too much of that short fat chick from the show. Rides, games, bars w/ bands. Jack and Bills, Beach Comber, still there and doing well. There's a huge influx of Russian college kids that come for the Summer to work the boards, and that just proves the constantly changing ethnic make up of the town. Sure, it's still guido-ville, but Seaside is an NJ landmark, good or bad. It's not Cape May. It's the poor man's Cape May.
