99 5.0L AWD

110 mph

I have had my 94 4.0 up to around 100, but I am not exactly sure since the speedo only goes to 80.

Was that after your chip? Because my speed limiter kicks in at 110mph.

same here. i asked about that a while ago, and mine and roberts (hes the only one i remember off the top of my head) - both our "battery" gauges stay at about 40%.

yeah tbomb i check my battery voltage with voltometer and it runnes 13 volts at idle so it never really bothered me ..but i'm use to seeing that needle move around alittle just to know that it's working

The battery gauge isn't a dummy gauge like the oil pressure gauge is. The batter voltage gauge actually responds to voltage level. Mine runs right about the same place and the only time I ever saw it lower was after my Explorer was parked at the airport for two weeks. Then it just barely started. When I turned the key to on, the battery needle barely moved. I put a new battery in and it hasn't moved from its normal position since (except when I shut it off:))

This was on my way home tonight, LOL, I have no idea how fas I was really going, thats where the speedo stopped, and the truck kept going faster and faster :D

At idle, you should be reading 14.2-14.5V. 13V is not a good thing.

Robb

The fastest that I've taken my '97 Mountaineer V8 was 110 mph, and it was acting as if it wanted to go to 115. After 100 mph, the speed climbed much slower than going from 0-100 due to the vehicle's aerodynamics of a barn door.

i have gone well over 120 in my 96 (and not on the dyno, lol) i also averaged over 100 for 120 miles once when i was living down in phoenix
