Anyone got any idea why the shift knob on a manul transmission would spin when moving, but be perfectly tight when not?

It's wierd, to see the pattern upside down, then it moves.. and moves.. I keep thinking it's the neighbor kids, but I keep the F150 locked.

very typical for a Ford shifter........

Super glue is your friend.

The little sucker should also pry off in order to gain access to the mounting screw underneath (if so equipped)

I left mine alone all those years (when it was a stick) because my fingers just loved to play with that rattling thing......

That's part of the problem.

It's solid - no rattling, no turning, nada. It just moves when your driving it..

It's totally wierd.

lol a little too much time....

damn i wish i had standard

tom, i think your truck is possesed

When it starts puking green stuff, you know it's time for the exorcism!

Yea, I'm getting very tempted to sell it.

3 coil packs in 18 months, < 25k miles on them.

Not a good sign.

My Explorer used to do that ALL the time. It was the center part. It pops out. So I popped it out and superr glued that. It never did it again.

my ranger did the same thing. it happens, glue fixes it.

Ok, got the truck back..

and now I understand what's wrong.

The medallion part is what is loose, and needs to be glued down.
