For 2009 with 20" factory rims. Will 17" work or does it have to be 18" as I been looking for a used Ford set of rims, maybe from an F150 or such hub centric as well.

Anyone done something with a 2nd set?

F150 is wrong bolt pattern.
16 inch and up fit with stock size brakes.

What 20" rims do you have? Looking to offload them?

Yep, everything will fit. My 2010 EB came with 18", and the spare tire is a 17". Not to mention that I put factory 20" on as well. Everything is compatible

They were stock on the LTD as I understand. I will post a photo since the Explorer is here in my driveway. We are happy with it or rather my son it. LOL He's much more ok with black than I am. His came with very good condition Blizack tires on it.

You can go down to a 16" wheel. That was the smallest stock size and will clear the brake calipers. My '07 came stock with 17's, and my snows are on 16" wheels (tires are cheaper!).

And no to mounting F150 wheels - different bolt patterns for one. The 97 and up F150's are on a 5 or 6 bolt (depending on the year)on 135 mm spacing. The Explorer is on 5 on 4.5 inch (or 114.3mm). Would be nice if that worked, but having been an Explorer and F150 house going on 2 decades now, it ain't happening...

Those are the exact rims I am looking for! I would happily trade you for my 18s with brand new Nitto N421Q tires on them. Problem is shipping would be expensive.

Haha sorry no trades ;) I'll post a picture in the spring when I'm able to detail it and having it looking it's best.

Did Ford change the hub centric size in 2009 Explorers.
I was searching for compatible rims by various vehicles and the size after 2008 seems different 70.3 was the size I normally saw but a large one was displayed. I can't find the website now which I believe said it was 71.x mm
