Will a 4.0L from a 2002+ Explorer swap in?

So, since the death rattle in my 'Trac is getting louder, I'm looking at options for either replacing the timing chains ($$$), or swapping in a used engine.

Finding another 4.0L from a Sport Trac is proving to be difficult. I want to find a 2002+ engine for the upgraded timing chain tensioners, and all I've found so far is engines from 3rd Gen Explorers.

Can I use one of them? I'm looking at just the engine, not a full engine / transmission / transfer case / etc. swap.

Using the long block and your original accessories, yes. So will a Mustang 4.0L SOHC.

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

Also, another question: I should be fine just replacing the front / rear timing chain tensioners on my existing motor, correct? If I don't have to worry about replacing the entire timing cassets, I might just go that route instead, especially if I don't have to pull the motor and fool around with timing.
