will this locker work??

my buddy has an explo and wants to put a locker in his front axle like i did. i went with the aussie locker. he brought up a good question. will a locker for a jeep dana 35 work on his explorer because there both 27 spline and the upgraded hubs fit from the jeep

I did some resourch and found that the Powertrax Lockrite locker will work. The main thing to keep in mind is the ring gear size and the number of splines on the axle. To make sure I am correct, I contacted our go buddies over at JustDifferential.com and this is what they said...

Yes the 2310 Lock Right will fit your front Dana 35. It will
require that you put a spring in the passenger side axle slip yoke.

The rotation only refers to the gear. The locker goes inside the carrier in the place of the spider gears which have no directional cut as they are not heilical gears. Yes the front Dana 35 has to be reverse cut for the ring and pinion but that is it.

I am replacing a broke front TracLock in my d35 with a Powertrax AND the open carrier from a 89 YJ Jeep d35 right now. So far everything fits fine.
