This ought to be a fun one for the electrical gurus on here.

Have a 2000 Explorer XLS 4dr. has factory keyless entry somewhere along it life someone added a K.A.R.R. Brand alarm system in it and it's interfaced in the keyless entry.

the problem were having is when you close the drivers door the power windows/door locks will not operate. at least from the drivers door. if you open the door a crack (just enough to get the dome light on) all the windows/locks work perfectly. but as soon as you close the door then nothing again.

had the door panel off today and was looking at it using a continuity tester i was able to determine that there still is power at the switch when the door open or closed.

but still no worky

the only other thing we have noticed is that when the drivers door is closed and you push the button i hear a relay clickiing like a second after pushing the button under the dash near the steering column but i have not been able to locate it yet.

any ideas folks?

common problem, lots of posts, broken wire (hint... BK) in the door post is likely cause.

...It does sound like the same problem..

..It usually winds up being a broken ground wire in the boot between the door and chasis...IIRC, it is a wire at the very back of this collection that is short and takes the abuse until it breaks...

sounds to me like that thing in the door jamb,, the round black wire hinge, it might have a bad spot in it,,
