Im in the process of wiring up my truck again. (I just tour out the dash and built a custom one) Well the plan is to use the stock harness and just strip out the junk Im not using like ABS, Cruise Control, the stock guages, ect. I wanted to plug in everything I have now just to make sure I can get everything working and fire it up, but I hit a brick wall. I pluged in everything that was left after all the modification the truck just went through and just left the unneeded accessories unpluged so I can later pull out all that crap to clean up the clutter. I got it all hooked up and went to fire it all up and nothing. messed with everything and still nothing. It tries to fire up when I connect the terminal on the starter sylanoid with a screw driver, but I can't get that from the ignition. the headlights, blinkers, highbeams, wiper washer, hazards all work, but I can't get the ignition to do anything. There is no power to it. I checked the fuses. double and triple checked everything.

Is there something I'm missing that won't allow the truck to start. I have it in park. What about the nuetral safty switch? Anything else?
Thanks

what about the fues under the hood. what mods did you do to the truck?

ouch

The neautral safety and starter relay system is simple on paper, but in the truck it can be quite confusing. I have ALOT of notes from the conversions I have done over the years and every single time I do a new engine/trans combo I have to completely re-figure the neautral safety circuit.

The wires run through the 3 position clutch switch (even if you dont have one the wires still run down there) and they loop through the transmission before ever seeing the starter solenoid.

You need to check and make sure that your sensors (TPS, MAS, INjectors, etc) have + at the red power distribution wires when the key is in the ON position.
The red wire is power distribution from the PCM to almost everything under your hood.
The PCM always has power, through the big fuse in your underhood box, then the EEC relay powers up when the key is turned to on. The PCM must have a good ground (few of them actually) and then it will power up everything.
Many times I have seen conversions not start... first thing I check after the obvious is for + at the sensors (injector is a good place) at the red power dist wire with key in on... if no power then its never gonna start obviously.

So check there then get back to us.
Give some details about the recent wiring work you have done, or whats changed.

Email me and I can send you a BUNCH of 4.0L wiring diagrams, if you can make heads or tails of my chicken scratch then it may help you to understand what you are looking at and why

Thanks a lot fortune! I havn't done any modification to any of the wiring yet. I just pulled out the stock dash, built a cage and new custom dash and now I'm trying to hook everything I have left from the stock accessories and try to get it going before I start taking out the unneeded wiring.(Don't want to rip needed wring out). I want to keep the wiring as simple as possible. I'm going out to take another stab at it and I'll get back to you guys soon
