So I was at the J/Y today grabbing a mirror for my buddy's F150 and while at it I picked up the T fitting for the PCV to replace my broken one. I saw several 6-CD changers (the ones that fit in the center console under the lid) and also several of the message centers.
1. Should I even bother taking those out of cars left in the J/Y for months upon dirty months and
2. How much extra wiring is needed to get them to work in my 97 xlt?

Thanks!:salute:

Any idea if that factory CD player could play cd's with mp3s?

No it doesn't, at least the one on my 97 didn't
The one on my 02 does tho' but it came from an 07...
There is a write up on how to add the console, it is a lot of electrical work, since the harness is not there, so it's up to you to determine if it's worth it or not

You could get an aftermarket cd changer with fm modulator instead of an old JY one...

Yeah...I really didn't want to remove the stock cd player because I like the stock look but I guess it'll be less hassle especially since most of my cd's are all in mp3 format.

yuo can keep the stock HU, and hide some other player in the center console, you just need to use an FM modulator, that would be the cheapest and easiest way. Sound quality might not be the greatest but when I had one, it didn't really bother me at all
