wow sounds like hydrolocked.. u sure it was just a "puddle"?

assuming that the engine is hydrolocked, and the engine wasnt submerged deep enough to take in water through the intake, did you keep ur foot a bit on the gas to overcome the water pressure triyng to get in through the exhaust?

take out the spark plugs and see if you can crank the main pulley again. if water jets out, then its locked. there's are a few threads on here on how to get the water out of the engine and what to do immediatly after getting back to "base" (changing the oil a few times, etc...).

Pull all the plugs out, and force the motor to turn by hand. You might need to put some wd-40 in every spark plug hole.

did you check to see if the engine turns over by hand? If it does replace the starter some times the leads to the brushes in the starter get hot & when sumberged they will break, causing the CLICK of death

yeah ill try taking my plugs out... ive tryed cranking it by hand.. its just not happening! but ill try again. yeah it was just a puddle.. this one... a few before it may have been over my hood :D ...im sure i hydrolocked it though. but thanks for the info guys!

I had a car do the same thing once. It ended up being the starter gear binding up on the fly wheel tooth on tooth instead of meshed together. The motor felt like it was seized solid. I put it in gear and rolled the car ahead a foot and it worked! It would be nice if this was your problem! Can't hurt to try.

Yeah this happened to my explorer too immediately after i swapped the transmission. but mine didnt feel like it seized solid as i was able to turn the engine over by hand via the front pulley and a wrench. But yes, def. worth a try!

falls guy thanks for the info.. ill deff. try that out! tonight when i got home from work i pulled my plugs out and water came out of the #6 hole and i drained the oil and about a quart and a half of crystle clear water came out before the oil... hmm!! i tryed to turn the motor with a socket and half inch drive ratchet again on the main pully and still its a no go... cant budge it... so ill try that whole puttin it in gear and rolling it a few feet... ill post what happenes and im sure ill have more questions...

anyone else have any ideas?

so you took off ALL of the spark plugs and still no turning over?

yes please keep us posted on the progress.

yeah i took them all out... nothing... i wonder if i can turn it by the flywheel?

if you cant turn the engine over by the front pulley with a wrench, then i dunno if ull be able to turn it over via the flywheel cauz there's really nothing to hold on to on the flywheel (of course i could be wrong) - unless of course u dissassociate the trannsmission from the engine.

i find this strange cauz uv drained the oil from the engine already and uv removed the plugs.. so basically the enigne is empty on both sides of the cylinder.

maybe you need to unfreeze the cylinders with some WD-40 (i've heard kerosene works too) and let it sit for a bit... usually a day or so and then VERY SLOWLY turn the flywheel with ur half-inch driven wrench.

oh and another good penetrating oil to use is this thing called "Marvel Mystery oil"... a lot of ppl have praised this product. it looks something like this:

i hope the engine Gods on the threads will chime in...

yeah that marvel mystery oil is good stuff... we use it at work sometimes. ill try the wd40 or whatever else i can think of... theres probably still a little water on top of a few of the cylenders cause some are down...

If the starter gear is binding against the fly wheel you can visually inspect it. You might have to take the inspection cover off on these things I'm not sure.

i think the water in the cyl. is the first thing that i would worry about cauz adding the penetrating oil wont help much if theres still a lot of water in the cyl.

i had a great idea today! V8... i may price them and get rid of the 4.0 :D

well ive had the starter out, i originally thought that was the problem so i took it out and had it checked... its back in now so i dont think its binding against the flywheel, but i might as well check again to get rid of all possibilities before i have to pull the motor... saturday im going to pull the oil pan and see if i can see anything unusual, theres no metal shavings or anything in my oil accept water... but i guess those are my next moves!
