won't start

i have a 2000 xlt and it won't start. about 3 weeks ago i got in after leaving it sit for about a half hour and it wouldn't start. all power was there but turning the key just made a clicking noise and it wasn't from the starter. 2 mins later i tried again and it started like nothing happened. same thing this time but it's been three days, can anyone help me

Starter relay was clicking--could have bad contacts-or connection.
It is in the power distribution box-near brake master cylinder.

Is this the area you heard the clicking from?

My 96 has the same problem. I need to fix it once and for all since my teenaged daughter uses it. Please refer to this thread and see if it's your problem as well.
