Wont stay running

The explorer wont stay running. Friday i did an oil change. THis morning i went to crank it and first it didnt crank. like stalled halfway through me turning the key. So i went to crank it again and it finished. I see steam or smoke, something in a small cloud come from under the hook and a horrible sound. It was like "curr" but high pitched and almost like grinding.Then it will lose RPMs within like 5 seconds and shut off. I dont think this is a quick fix. so if anyone could point me in the direction thanks. Also the gauges are reading everything fine. -TJ

when you say it finished, do you mean that it started up?

Yea it did start but it was only like the last 50 percent if you get what i am saying. -TJ

So when i cranked it up this afternoon it was fine. If somebody could close this. -TJ
