Hey, Danny.. can you give me a link to Russ's photobucket? I'm trying to see those pics he took of his projectors.. but we only talked briefly the other day and he sent just a single pic over msn, and that's on my friend's computer.

The Truck is worth well more then what is left on the loan...It books for $7,810 on kbb.com so that is not an issue..

Once i hear back from the insurance guy and get real numbers to work with i will decide what will happen..

Thanks for all the support i really need it

If you are sitting at $7,810 on KBB you are GOLDEN! When my wife wrecked my Durango 2 months after buying it they were only going to cover what was left on the loan which was about $12k, but we put $2k down on it and made 2 double payments for another $1k difference. I used the KBB value to fight them and get my $3k back into my pocket. Dealing with insurance adjusters isn't easy, but if you stick to your guns and back yourself up with facts and documentation they will have to given in. I can't imagine how many millions of dollars they have scammed customers out of with their deceptive tactics.

Also.... Call your loan company and tell them the vehicle is going to be totaled and they will stop your due dates and not post negative info on your credit if the insurance drags it out 3 months like they did with me.

That's good advice, look into that sometime soon.

So here is a bit of an update, been talking to my Mom some today. Even me being almost 22 she has taken over everything with the wreck and what is going to happen. I put my foot down yesterday and told her I was going to keep it. I'm looking at it this way, I'm disabled, can't work, can't get another lone, meaning I would not be able to get a truck. I need to have wheels to get to doctors, my shrink, everything. So even if this thing look bunk as hell for a while it will still be wheels, 20 inch rims on a project in the making. Since I would have to learn body work and get very hands on with this more then I already know this could be fun. My truck could be anything in the end when I'm done with it. I already know its not going back to pearl thats just a ***** to paint and is SO much money. I will be going just white, with a metal flake over it :) So much easier to do! If this is how it plays out that is, I would even take off the boards and flairs and weld up the holes and reallllyyyyy smooth it out! Go 100% full on street truck. I might as well take this and do everything I always wanted to do since its going to look bunk none the less?

But then again that me dreaming just a waiting game right now, only time will tell!:salute:Cheers

when mine was wrecked, i owed 3k on it. they paid me 5k, and i bought it back for 700. it took me over 2yrs, but i only spent 500 or so fixing it back up to drivable.

Have you had the frame/suspension checked out? If you're willing to fix it up I'd at least have that checked out. It doesn't look like it caught the front frame rail but the suspension might have taken some force. That's honestly my only concern. I'm all for fixing it up!

The metal flake in the paint will be just as bad as pearl. If you have to repaint you'll never match the consistency of the flakes. But lets hope you don't you have worry about a respray after this!

Once I get it drive able again I will look it over hard core :) As for the flake, yes harder to match but not nearly as bad as pearl! I have painted with flake before, Do some research for me? On Lexus's Crystal White for me and post a link? Thats where I got the idea I want to read up on it and see how it is sprayed...

Dang man, sorry about your Explorer! It is way too nice to let go. Good luck with the repairs, and let me know if there's any way I can help with it.

The front clip will be the hard repair, the radiator support. Unless there is no movement of the right fender apron at all, I'd let a frame shop change that portion. That needs to be right to have the fender etc. to all line up perfectly. I don't know what costs would be there, but here it would be less than $500. I know that's not cheap, but look at it as the only thing you may need help with(other than paint work).

I have pearl in my green truck, my painter was a pro and knew how to deal with it. I would also avoid much pearl or flake for a novice painter. The cost to paint the whole thing though will be more than to just match the front.

Just talked to State Farm and my Mom and no one has herd anything yet, Ann(SF) said that all the under writers are in a meeting right now. She has a message in for them and they will be calling her back soon. So I should know something soon? I would hope?

Danny, do you have the truck? That is a loaded question, usually they have it. If they have it then you can't swap any parts. If you have it, you have the option, but not for long if they want it back.

The truck is in my drive way, they can not touch it tell I give them the final word and I already talked to them about my parts. They said as long as I put something back I can take it all off, if it comes down to that. I would take EVERYTHING out from my headers to my headliner to my leather seats! I would gut that truck faster then they can blink! But I want to keep it!

Very good, in most cases I have known the vehicle is at a towing yard, or the insurance company has it somewhere. I've had friends get the car back to plan to buy it, swap several parts off, and then change their minds. It sounds like you have a great system there, very good.

If I were you I'd retain possession on it. Since it's your own insurance they will try to only pay off the car and call it good, but fight for your KBB value. If the insurance stalls at all in the process ask your Agent to get you the title for the vehicle. If its a good agent they will help you pull a fast one on the underwriter. Then once you have the title and it's been paid off you can really start flexing your muscles because you have nothing to lose. In my case they paid off the loan while I was arguing with them about paying me back my $$. Once loan was paid I got my agent to send me the title.
