Would you fight this speeding Ticket?

It's getting to the point that we civilians need in dash recorders to bust the lying/dirty cops.

Maybe thats what the voice recorder built into my sun visor is for:scratch:

there is nothin really on the ticket beyond it saying 44 in a 35, the closest intersection to where he pulled me over and the brand of speed detection unit that was used. Also i passed him after i had passed the posted speed limit sighn of 45 but less than 20 yards pass the posted 45 sighn on the other side of the road headed in the oppisite direction from which i was going the sighn does say 35.

Like I said, take pictures. It will easily be dismissed.

Someone has gotten a few tickets...

Don't get all butthurt about it.

If all you're going to do is defend ****ty cop work, please see your way out of the thread.

As far as me getting tickets. Let's see, I've had one state trooper give me a hard time because apparently driving a nicer car then him is a crime, and another one gave me a speeding ticket that was 11mph FASTER then my speedo and GPS said I was going, AFTER I passed 3 other troopers doing the same speed (Cruise control up the same highway). And because it was 6hrs away from my house he knew I wasn't going to fight it so he didnt even cut me a break on the ticket (First and only moving violation I've ever received).

Fight it!

Even a local cop's son says his dad is a bad cop...Nuff said-

So one person says their dad's a bad cop, so this applies to the 800,000 law enforcement officers in the United States?

Makes sense.

I don't have to see my way out of anywhere -I've done nothing wrong.

So you're exactly what I said, butthurt. You got some tickets, now you have a grudge against state troopers. Pretty simple concept.

Makes sense.

If it makes sense, that "cop" got let go. There will be a few bad apples in every barrel-

This is timely!

Class action suit says Florida Highway Patrol illegally tickets motorists who warn others about speed traps

Campbell says the FHP trooper wrote him a ticket for improper flashing of high beams. Campbell says the trooper told him what he had done was illegal.

But later Campbell learned that is not the case. He filed a class action suit which says "Florida Statue 316.2397" -- under which Campbell was cited -- "does not prohibit the flashing of headlights as a means of communications, nor does it in any way reference flashing headlights or the use of high beams."

However, the FHP trooper who wrote the ticket either didn't know or didn't care. "You could tell in his voice he was upset," Campbell says. "He was professional, he wasn't rude... but you could tell he was irritated."

However, the lawsuit says the FHP is well aware they are wrongfully applying the state law and they are doing it as a means of generating revenue. In 2005, a court order was even issued saying the state law doesn't prohibit the flashing of vehicle headlights.

http://www.wtsp.com/news/topstories/article/207550/250/FHP-sued-for-giving-out-illegal-tickets

In other words, "corporate policy" is to issue bogus tickets since most people will just pay it without even looking up the law they're accused of breaking.

Gotta love it - only car on the road, lit up head on with instant-on @ 500ft, she beeps, Bubba stands on the brakes, and all is well!

My solution is to get great gas mileage, save my brakes, and enjoy no stressful constant staring into the median- I just drive the speed limit. :D

Kind of a weird stretch of road it seems like- I would show up for court.

I don't know about Florida, but in NY the Trooper can re write the ticket for the original speed if he chooses. In NY the have the discretion to write the ticket at a lower speed to "cut you a break" as they say.

Boooooooring. Live a little! Doing 34 in a 25 is fun!

That "cut you a break" thing is the oldest swindle in the book. The old "good cop, bad cop" scam in an attempt to make you feel guilty for challenging a cop who is trying to help you, (cough, cough). What you should do is when a cop asks you; "do you know how fast you were going?," you should say nothing and let them do the talking. They are trying to get you to say something incriminating. Next, keep your yap shut until he comes back and gives you a warning (rare) or a ticket. If it's a ticket, then ask to see your speed on his device. Chances are he is going to say "I erased it" or "I don't have to show you that." Politely state, "if that is direct evidence which can be used against me, I'd really like to see it as I don't believe I was speeding." This plants a bug in the cop's pea brain that you may use his lack of transparency against him in traffic court, and that you are somewhat savvy of legal proceedings. I actually had a cop ask me if I was a lawyer. I've used this tactic twice and in both instances the cops never showed up for court. YMMV

@BubbaFL Here is my most *favoritest* quote on this kind of spying crap by the cops against citizens: "If government seeks to use clandestine and furtive methods to monitor citizen actions, it can ill afford to complain should the citizen insist on a method to effect his right to know he is under such surveillance."

--Judge Joseph Ryan, Superior Court, District of Columbia

Uh, ok? Where the hell did that come from? All I said was he'll show up...because if he doesn't his superiors will rip him a new one.

I make one simple statement and you come out, guns blazing, with some crazy conspiracy rant. Sounds like you have some issues there, buddy.

You're the one who posted the Jackboot diatribe that your daddy cop would come after people who challenged him in court with "guns blazing." You {forgot} *sniff* to mention the part about his "superiors would rip him a new one" if he didn't show up. Nice attempt at spin-doctoring your original statement though.

"FIGHT IT"

Cops suck...

I was given a ticket for getting rear ended at a red light!!!! (the guy who hit me was a Marine and knew the cop)

I woke up one night to see a couple kids breaking into my truck, called 911, cop came 30 minutes later, apologizing he was late, but he wanted to see if there were any other cars in the area that were broken into.

...it is so a shame that there are so many bad cops, because there are some good ones out there really trying to protect us.

Can you recall the infraction ? Was it something like "Failure To Yield" ? This is an old tactic to protect the Marine from getting "sued". Plus it will delay/deny your chances of recouping $$ from either insurance co.

I go to court today at 3:30 for this ticket i got plenty of pictures of the road showing the 45 mph sighns

Traffic court is a joke,The cop stood in court and lied then said he wanted to ammend the ticket from 44 in 35 to 64 in a 35 and the judge let him do it which ment the ticket he wrote me ment nothin because the judge just went by what the cop stood there and told him not what was on my ticket the judge looked at my pics and said what are these for then the cop said those pics could have been taken anywhere when the pics clearly showed the intersection where i got pulled over the street signs showin the name of the street and you could clearly see the 45 speed limit sign in the background of the pic, the judge then said i find you guilty of what the cop says and its 64 in a 35.I want to know since when is it legal for the cop to write you a ticket, file that ticket and then come to court and say judge disregard that ticket that i wrote and filed i'm gonna tell you what i say happen and the judge go along with it?
