Hey guys I ordered a fuel pump from eBay for my 2003 Ford explorer sport.
I realised a bit later that I ordered the one for the trac. It looks a little different and am wondering if there is a way to make it work with my current model?

Advanced Auto sells just the pump for 120 and the whole sending unit is a whole lot more. So I'm trying to cut corners with what I got if possible. I'm about to order the pump if needed be but I'd hate for it to not work either.

Any suggestions?

My problem: Intermittent start; motor cranks but does not always start.
Solution I have been trying which seems to work: turn ignition key to on but do not try to start motor for 5-10 seconds. After this attempt the car starts Wrong Fuel SOS.

My question: Does the Fuel Pump Relay go bad all at once or slowly over time?

Also, the safe way to remove Relay from fuse box?

Yes the relay can burn up over time
To remove it just pull wiggle it out of the fuse box

It does not sound like a relay to me
Because when you turn the key a few times, the pump primes each time. This is a function of the computer, fuel
Pump relay and fuse. This means when you turn the key and the pump primes for 1-2 second those are all working . However it seems you have a low pressure issue or a weak pump. If it starts easily after priming the pump 3-5 times, it is because your weak fuel pump is building up adequate pressure for the cold start.
