I have 02 explorer xlt, awd with 4 wd. 43 k miles and looking to replace with:
1. kelly springfield safari suv tires
2. michelin ltx m/s tires
3. michelin cross terrain tires
Main driving is to/from work 40 miles daily in stop/go traffic. I do tow a 171/2 foot boot during spring, summer, fall. Looking to make sure the tires are pretty decent in rain, slush, snow.
I have read reviews in the tirerack on the michelins. The ltx received better reviews than the cross terrains. However, talking with one of the guys at local tire dealer, he mentioned that the ltx (he has them on his pickup) breaks loose in wet pavement when trying to get out in traffic. Anybody have this issue with these tires on their explorer? Are these pretty good in the snow?
I am leaning towards the ltx but would like to get more info from anyone on the kelly tires. They seem pretty good. Lot cheaper than the michelins.
any help appreciated.
