84 CJ D30? Good idea?

Ok, So I have a guy on Greatlakes4x4 that is willing to give me a 84 CJ D30 for free. It has no Axle Shafts, but it's free..... I know that D30's aren't very strong for the Hardcore off roading, but I don't need a whole lot of strength, I'm not into much more then Dunes. It would probably be a DD. It wouldn't be converted for a while though. Opinions (-) the fact that the D30 is weak.

I could have swore the CJ D30 was passenger side drop.. If I'm right it won't work, you need drivers side drop/pumpkin
