2000 Mountaineer Door Lock Issues

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum here, so hello! I have a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, and I am having major issues with my doors unlocking/locking.

Details:
Driver side front and rear doors do not unlock, but will lock. Passenger front will do nothing, and passenger rear does whatever it wants.

What I have done:

I have replaced the door lock relays (all 4), as well as the door lock actuators on the driver side. It did not fix the driver rear door at all, but the driver door seemed to unlock/lock fine for a little bit, and now it will only lock again.
No change on the passenger side.

This is driving me crazy. I do not know enough about electronics in a vehicle, but I cannot seem to find any broken wires...

There are known issues with wires breaking next to the drivers door hinge. Also, if you've replaced actuators and are
sure all the latch rods are connected, only faulty latches remain if the hinge wiring is OK. Are you getting noise from the actuators when locking or unlocking? If so, check for small broken springs inside the latches or in the bottom of the doors.

You will need to heavily lube the door latch/lock mechanism. Don't bother with conventional automotive spray lubes. Go to the gun department of your nearest box store...or a gun shop and pick up 2 products (Break Free & RemOil). The Break Free is in a black can and should be used to get things moving. The RemOil is in a green and yellow can...I use it to keep things moving. Just pull the door panel, peal back the dirt/splash shield and let it have it. Don't worry about what drips to the bottom of the door...water repellant. Those 2 products keep semi-auto pistols and AR15s running shot after shot, and they keep my latches going too.

Try pushing upward on the rod going from the door latch to outer handle. While holding this upward pressure hit the door lock button on the fob, and see if the lock unlock function works better.

You'll need to remove the door panel to do this.
