So I've had a few electrical issues with my 92 x. This one is weird to me. When in park or stopped at a light my battery gauge needle jumps around. When I start to drive the needle stops where it should. A while back Oreilly tested the system and only the starter failed but it's been starting since then. Sometimes hard sometimes no issues at all.

If you put a meter on the battery, does the voltage jump around? Or is it just the gauge?

Usually if a vehicle starts hard sometimes and fine other times, it could be a loose connection somewhere

It could be that when you slow or stop, the idle is going too low.

Try cleaning the IAC valve.

here is a thread for help.

When cleaning, pay attention to the internal plunger, make sure it slides freely. Good luck
