Can explorer 2017 base screen play video?

Hi all,
I hope i can find some help with an idea i have...

I have a 2017 explorer base model and comes from factory with a rear camera displaying on the small radio screen the camera video...
So this means the screen should be able to display videos also as the camera is a video input/output....

Would there be a way to utilise this to play movies or mirror mobile screen to it?

Clearly this is well past when you asked but I don't believe you can. I have the same model as you and have yet to find a positive answer for that.

I think it would simply be easier and far less time consuming to just drop in a sync 3 unit (pricey as they are).

The last time the member was active here was June 22nd so I doubt he may still be following the thread. Since it is illegal to have video playing in the front the only way to do it is to 'hack' the system as a few have done.
