Mos of the snorkels I've seen are 3 or 3.5" diameter - a lot more than the standard explorer airbox opening of around 2,5". I don't think there's be any issue using a 3" snorkel on an exploder.

Yeah, I've got my eye on a 3" safari head, and 3" stainless mandrel tubing,
Then I'll just haveto seal the airbox, or make a new one, probably with a cone filter.
doing one in the hood like a first gen hummer you could always leave it low and keep an extension in the back seat for when you want more. another option is to set it up so you can route into the cab. just set the hose up, pop the hood and connect.

Yeah, I'd much rather do the safari style snorkel myself, I really would rather cut a fender than my hood.
No parts to get outa place that way either. without the movement of the hood.
the top section of the snorkel will provide plenty of airspeed, plus your airbox will contain enuf to prevent the engine running out of air at W.O.T.
Scotty
p.s. Ben, it'll look sweet with the textured finish, just keep it short as possible & as small a number and radius of turns

Haha.. it was great fun... we got on a trail for like an hour and a half... finally found our way out with the GPS.. and ended up coming out on someones cottage road, which they had gated...
