For some reason the pictures I'm looking at are different then on my truck. Is this the drain plug for oil on a 2000, bottom nut:

B/c this is what it looks like on an older explorer 5.0, looks like a little different setup/pan:

Anybody lol, want to make sure I don't unscrew the wrong nut, that has to be it but it looks so different from my other vehicles which have normal looking pans and older V8 Explorers. Haynes manual doesn't tell you the location, and everyone says check the owners manual for location but its no where in my owners manual.

Also I read another one online that said the 5.0 V8's have two drain plugs for the oil? Huh??! http://www.ehow.com/how_4484496_change-oil-ford-explorer.html
The Ford Explorer has a few unique characteristics that make an oil change on the Explorer different from other Ford models. If your Ford Explorer has a 5.0 engine, then the engine block will have two oil drain plugs. A 4.0 liter engine has the oil filter on the bottom of the passenger side, while all other engines have it on the driver side.

Drain it from the bottom bolt yes. The top one with the connector on it is the low oil level sensor. Leave it alone.

I have never seen 2 oil drain bolts on any 2nd gen ( 5.0) v8 explorer or mountaineer.

Fig that had to of been it but wanted to make sure lol, the older 5.0's pan looks different. But yeah I was searching all around the engine for another drain plug and have no idea what their talking about.

That is all bad info I would say. My '96 looks just like yours minus the oil sensor.
