Okay Here it is!

The first startup yielded quite a scare, I had no oil pressure and it was backfiring and missing and carrying on. I haven't exactly figured out why it was doing that. But after about 5 seconds it stopped backfiring, then it sounded like it had a serious miss on one cylinder. You could hear it in the intake and well as the tail pipes, so I thought something serious had happened. I then looked at the dash to see if it had thrown codes, which it did, but I also saw that it had no oil pressure. I immediately freaked out and shut it off. I checked all the plugs and wires to make sure everything was hooked up, I found the oil pressure sender to be unplugged.. DOH!. I started it up a second time and all the missing was gone, but the engine bay sounded extremely loud to me for some reason.. you can REALLY hear those lifters/pushrods/rockers!! I'm not sure if something's wrong or what, but it seemed to quiet down the third time I started it up, which i took the video of.

I DO have one remaining cracked vacuum line, which may explain why it was bogging down when I was revving it a little. It's the line that crosses over to that vacuum reserve ball thing? I don't know. I'm tired as crap, I went at it from 2.30pm today all the way till 11.30 it's time for bed!! You can tell when I'm tired, I ramble on and my grammar and punctuation get ridiculous. :p:

Did they mill those spring seats? Those are 988 springs right.it will get quieter but that cam will be noisier. You need to lower the rpms also or do they ever lower on there self

Also make sure to check the radiator,filltube/cap and dipstick for water.if you do have a problem its best to caught it very quick and if you do get a problem it will be in the first couple miles!

The RPMs do drop after a while of warming up, but they fluctuate a little bit to +/- 750, I may have to get that vacuum leak fixed. And yes the springs seats were milled. I figure after a few more runs the oil will better work its way through all the lifters and stuff after it burns off all that assembly lube and such.

Yeah? It was nice when it was stock, you could tell you had a vacuum leak because it idled like it was cammed. Well, now that it IS cammed uhhh... :p:

I get out of class in 30 mins.. can't wait to get out there!! hahah

Yea you can forget about a steady idle

i know the feeling lol
that little screw on the tb controls the idle correct? want to know for my uses later on, but if thats what it does lower it all the way on the verge of stalling and do a video for me, i just wanna hear it

My throttle body closes all the way up with where the set screw was at out of the factory, so I'm not sure I'll be able to get it to drop any further. I'm going to fix the cracked vacuum line and start it back up, maybe run through two or three heat cycles, watch the fluids/engine bay for leaks, then hop in it and take it for a quick test drive. I'll get some better video of it today.

Ok so today didn't go so well

Turns out I've got a pretty bad oil leak :( The heads are drenched as well as the cradle, it appears to be coming from the valve cover gaskets and dripping down onto the y-pipe, leaving blue smoke screens behind me whenever I drive around the neighborhood. .. ughh crap.

Also forgot to mention, it's still throwing the P0340 code. I forgot to plug in the cam sychro sensor.. I plugged it in and it still throws it. Though I have no problems starting it up and can't tell anything different about the drivability even though the cam sensor may be out of alignment? :dunno:

You reset the computer?

Yeah, every time it throws the code I clear it in hopes it won't do it again :p:

Maybe I need to cut power and reset the PCM.. maybe the first time I started it up without it plugged in the PCM learned it wrong :dunno:.. worth a shot I guess.

how are you clearing them if you aren't cutting power?
