IIRC, the RS5229 is the recommended shock for the front, if all you're doing is a TT. With a TT you are not (and cannot) exceed the stock travel of suspension. So switching to the RS5374 on the front, which is designed for an extra 1.5-2" of travel will create a possible bind/break risk if you compress the front too rapidly or roughly.

I have a Performance Accessories 3" Ranger body lift on my truck, part #883. It's been a couple of years but I think I paid about $150.00 for it from JC Whitney (when they still shipped to Canada for free). It's totally interchangeable with the 2nd gen. Explorer. You'll have a few parts left over and will have to do a few minor mods to get the rear bumper on, but all in all it's really straight forward. I did have access to a garage with a lift, which made things easier, but me and one buddy got it done in a weekend...with lots of breaks. There's also a ton of threads on here to refer to about the install.
With the body lift, torsion twist and Warrior shackles I was able to put on 33/12.5/15s with only minimal trimming to the plastic near the running boards and fender flares, with a little more off the front bumper. For that job I used a Dremel with a small grinding disc and a small sanding wheel. Can't even tell that anything was changed.
As to tires, I did a lot of shopping around, and read a lot of reviews before dishing out my money. I decided on Goodyear Duratracs and I can't even explain how much I love them. They have a super aggressive tread design and sidewall, but are still really quiet on the road. What really blew me away though was how awesome they are on snow and ice. And they seem to be lasting really, really well too. I'm very impressed.

33x12.50 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac

The dodge add-a-leaf is perfect in my opnion. It lifted it about 2 1/2" and has settled to around 2 1/4" and rides good still, plus no longer shackle hangind down. I still have rub issues in the front when flexed up and turning due to all the plastic flares, but I'm not planing on getting rid of them, just need some more trimming.

I'm new here and love your ex, i have a very similar one minus the lift and all that, and im wondering how you did the lift since there is no 99 explorer body lift. and is it still safe to drive cause i was just denied to get a lift from a company as much information is much needed

Welcome to the forum, do a search on how to lift the 2nd gen Explorer. You have to use a ranger body lift, and you can do a shackle and/or add a leaf along with torsion twist for a small suspension lift. There are different options out there.

Thank you. and is it a 97 Ranger lift kit, and is it safe to lose? Sorry the questions, new to all this. and dont want to screw it up.
