Boy hits Curb.
Curb fights back.

Broken aluminum rim, Spindle bent, Lower control arm bent. The bearing is probably bad also.
over $1300.00 for the alignment shop to do the work. I figured about $600 for me to do it. $600.00 is still a fair amount of cash to a 18 year old. Maybe, just maybe, it might be a learning experience for him.

Silly me, one of the lca bolts was bent, and stuck in the lca. Now what? sawzall! Not easy, high grade steel.

Before cutting the bolt, I made sure the dealer could source a new bolt for me, as the other bolt had a different 'taper' to it. $17.00 bolt. I think that aggravated my hemorrhoids.

Moral of the story? We should look at our animal roots, and as a male, we should eat our young while the bones are still soft.

btw, that's only some of the blades I tore up getting thru that bolt.

jesus.. hopefully he learned... screwin around with friends or what??

Nope, its cold and slippery here.
Just plain driving too fast. I hope he learned this time. Obviously writing off our other vehicle the week before didn't teach him anything.

I'm still a 'bit' irritated. New winter tires on both vehicles. The explorer sticks like glue to the road. One more, and he's walking. He's pretty clear on that.

On the up side, that lca was pretty much toast. Even with an over sized ball joint in it, the ball joint was pushed up pretty far.
I'm just going to install a Chinese bearing as the truck doesn't see a ton of miles anymore. The timkin wasn't all that old, too bad. It feels ok, but I'm not sure I want to risk it.

ahhh children... i spend a week replacing a timing belt (and all the related components) in my daughter's PT Snoozer. i'd give that job a 9 on the difficulty scale. i ended up doing the job twice, because it wouldn't start when i was finished the first time, only to discover that there was so little fuel in the tank, the pickup wasn't submerged with the front of the vehicle on jack-stands. a month or so later, her boyfriend totaled it. not his fault, but still pissed me off big time.

on the positive side (?) that's what lend us down the Gen II Explorer road, and i do love these trucks.
