Got a set of genuine Ford hubs for our 2000 mountaineer.

Got the hubs installed fine, however the abs sensors will absolutely not plug in , about 1/8 inch from the click. Something hard is preventing further travel. ABS bulb might just burn out. Help?

Did the hub assembly come with new abs sensors? …. If so, can you use the old abs sensors? If not, can you look at obtaining new abs sensors?

Have you tried lubricating the abs sensors? Maybe use anti-seize?

I am confident you will resolve this. Good luck.

Alas, I had an abs code which is why I replaced both hubs, which included new sensors.

One of the old sensors is bad, and old units are gone anyway.

Makes no sense that the connector will not connect on these expensive hubs.

Anyone run into this?

Any chance of pictures of the connector and measurements with a caliper? Particularly the length of the portion that slots into the other connector. I have one of my old hubs w/factory sensor lying around *somewhere*, could compare it but may take me a while to FIND it.

I have replaced both my '98's front hubs, but did not use Motorcraft, one was Timken and the other more recently.. hmm... Centric's upper line, 402.65010 because I happened upon NOS $48 delivered on ebay, otherwise would have just gotten another Timken. Ironically the Centric did have Timken bearings. Both plugged in fine.

Old sensors, depends I suppose but the first of mine fractured apart trying to remove from the hub, rust had seized it in and there's no forcing (nor heating with a torch) thin walled plastic like found on those ABS sensors. In retrospect, a better attack at getting a rust seized sensor out of a hub you're replacing anyway, might be repeated applications of acid to break down the rust, without harming the plastic, but it seemed a pretty tight fit, trying to keep applying acid with just a hope it'll work, could get tedious.

Here's a crazy question. Does the connector have a rubber seal on it? Is it possible that when you unplugged the old one, the seal came off and stayed in the mating connector? Seems unlikely since it's presumably happening to both of them, but stranger things have happened.

Remove the sensors,
and insert the reverse end of a drill bit (size to suit) in the hole,
too measure the hole depth.
What is the hole depth?
Compare it too the sensor body. Will it fit? Is it the right sensor?
I had a manufacturer put the wrong product , in the right part bag ( marking and part number). They told me it happens.
Is there something in the hole for shipping?
Where did you buy the hubs?

I will get measurements and pictures

Will do this and post pictures
Hubs bought from levitown Ford parts, a vendor here. Not a vendor issue in my opinion

Thanks, hope you see somthing I dont

you are talking about the depth of the electrical connectors will not click on the truck side of things, correct?
The new unit bearings came with the actual speed sensors installed (with allen screw) correct?

Correct on both.

New connector pins seem closer to center than old
New connector does indeed have a rubber sleeve not present on an old one.

ditch the rubber sleeve?
UNPIN the new connectors and put the wires into the old connectors

WILD! never run into this before
I did recently have a brand new MOOG wheel hub physically destroy two speed sensors before I swapped it out...defective right out of the box. Of course I ordered them like a year ago on closeout, so no warranty for me.

So yeah, I do have some ultra old hubs I could steal the connector housings from, then repin the new wires into them. The pins are more off centered in both. That's messed up

My OEM hubs where Timken bearings and replacement are.(65,000 mile minimum life).

So any chance these are fakes?

The part number is correct

You are not trying to plug them into the fog
Light wires are you?

Kidding (of course)

Not very often does a new factory part not fit!!

Wondering now if these are fake sold by Ford

The pins are off position in new connectors, which are cheap china **** show with no removable pin lock, all one piece. Had to use pin extractor to remove pins from new plugs.

Picture shows mis alignment. Good connector on left

Pissed on so many levels right now.

Where did you buy from? I’d 100% return them. You pay OEM prices, you demand OEM performance.

So you're going to be able to reuse the old connectors or return for refund or ??? IIRC, Amazon and possibly ebay have a two pack of aftermarket sensors for around $22.

I'm not gonna disable my vehicle for days to return 2 hubs.

Using old connector housings. Ford can fix their **** themselves. They have people making more money than I do to faek themselves.

So, I called @Levittown Ford Parts , tried to explain there is an issue with a part, was told Benny does all the forum stuff. I then tried to explain it wasn't a forum problem but he didn't listen, and said Benny would get back in touch. My time is worth more than this.

They are just producing a low voltage AC pulse so the polarity of the connector shouldn't matter. You can do a diode test with a multimeter and if it measures the same both ways, they didn't rectify it to DC.
