Ford Explorer Wiper Blades

I went and returned the Trico's to Advance Auto and explained that I need a wiper with the OE part number, I was ok with Bosch if that's all they had. Well they looked at me like I was an alien and tried to tell me I was using the wrong included adapter. They couldn't believe they didn't fit (I didn't have the Explorer with me). I asked it they had the Bosch 22OE and the 26OE. They had the 22 but had to get the 26 from another store and said they could have it by 4:00pm. I said ok and I would come back. When I went back there was a different guy there and he couldn't find it anywhere. He look in the computer and told me they didn't make a 26OE. So I had to pull it up on my phone and show him they did and he said he couldn't order it. Now I'm back to square one and I'll probably just order them since nobody seems to know what wipers this car takes.

I'm sure the dealer would have the correct blades. They just replaced mine free of charge. Not sure if they are the same "OE' type.

I'd rather not overpay at the dealer for wiper blades. Why pay more when you don't have to? Would they have them? Yes. Would it be more convenient? Not really. I don't have the luxury of being able to take my car to the dealer and pay them stupid amounts of money for something simple, I'm already having a hard time paying $40 dollars for wiper blades not at the dealer. I ordered them on Amazon and will be done with it.

$19.95 (CDN) each, installed, at my dealer. That's $14.96 U.S.

Can we use the 'old school' style of wiper blade that has a metal frame, or do we have to use the fancy 'frameless' ones that are on there?

I haven't actually looked closely at how the wipers blades attach to the arms. I've never changed mine on the past 3 vehicles. Do the 'old school' blades have the same attachment feature? I'm guessing the move away from using the metal frame blades was to reduce ice build up which may not be an issue in your area. I don't see a problem using them if they can be attached the same way as the OEM ones.

Wiper blades on my explorer are pretty awful. Pretty sure they are the factory OEM ones. They're noisy and skip big time. I fixed the noise with a really good cleaning with rubbing alcohol and rubbing a small amount of rain x on the blades. However they still are skipping like crazy. Been wanting to replace them but once I fixed the noise, I was somewhat happy.

The adapters are different. Even from the ones that come standard on wiper blades. The correct one is included if they're the correct ones for the vehicle.

You can get aftermarket wiper blades with pinch tab adapters or in the low profile pinch tab mounting. I would assume most know, but for those that don't, Rockauto has them for less than $5/each. My last order for 10 wiper blades was just under $50 delivered. I went with Anco blades with the adapters this time because they were the cheapest that were all available from the same warehouse.

Wow my head is spinning....so we have a 2013 XLT with what I believe to be the OEM wiper blades on the truck. Better to go to dealer, order from Amazon or Rockauto? If order online, what is the correct part number(s)?

I just get mine from Fleet Farm or Menards here in MN. Michelin Stealth, Trico...whatever is on sale is what I get. Doesn't seem to matter if I get the cheap or expensive ones, they all perform similar. I have had good and bad sets from all brands, so I stopped sticking with one brand and just picked up whatever was on sale.

Please tell me you are not serious. Your head is spinning? They are just wiper blades.

If you don't care about cost, go to local dealer or local store and buy whatever they have that works.

If you care about cost, buy online. Rockauto is pretty easy to navigate - just click through to identify your vehicle, go to wiper blades, and pick from the selection they have. Amazon works in a similar manner and allows you to indicate your vehicle and it tells you whether the parts will work (for the most part).

Just changed mine out and do so every 6 months with Motorcraft blades as they seem to hold up.

I kept hearing something vibrating on the passenger side of the cabin at highway speeds, and after examining the wiper blades I saw that a small strip of rubber had become separated and was flapping madly against the wind. Time for a new set of blades.

Living in the desert, my challenge is having wiper blades that can survive several months of severe UV rays, and then about two months of ridiculous rain deluge. Watching some reviews on YouTube, this guy does an amazing job of testing different wiper blades. He buys several brands and leaves them exposed up on his roof for a year. Then he buys the same brands new, and tests all of them with his purpose-built equipment, and records the whole process.

He fits a lot of test results into a 10-minute video, including close-ups of the surfaces of the blades before and after exposure, noise, streaking, water wiping in both directions, and functionality at highway speed. The Bosch ICONs came out ahead, and it's nice being able to see the results for yourself.

They are currently $48.22 a pair on Amazon with Prime, but I don't mind spending a few dollars more after seeing the results of the testing. And they look pretty good too compared to the stock wipers.
