Yesterday I went to have the brakes repaired.
Rear brake overhaul, plus a couple of new pipes.
The mechanic told me while he was looking at the truck placed on the elevator "You can see that they canceled the front ABS", I told him: I guess this series has ABS only in the rear weels, and he answers: "but everything is set up here at the front, even the sensors..."

The issue stayed there but I kept thinking......my truck is a 1994 XLT 4x4 5 speed manual.
Does anyone have ABS in the front weels on the first explorer series?
Thanks for the answers!

I believe the '93 was rear axle only and in '94 it came with front and rear ABS.

94 has 4-wheel ABS.
Op truck is in south America, shipped without 02 sensors, discovered in an earlier thread. I wonder about the abs being updated.

I'm aware he's in South America. One of the pictures showed the ABS sensors at the front wheels. He was asking if any 1st Gen Explorers came with ABS. No idea what's going on with his rig. I think it had unique export stuff done, and a bunch more stuff done by the previous owner(s).

My '93 Sport has ABS. My bad, I should have said 4-wheel ABS!

What did he mean, how is abs “cancelled“ on your truck? If you have the front sensors, you must have abs. Or did previous owner disconnect?

Thanks all for your answers !
Here I upload two photos and a video of how my system is, can someone who has abs on all 4 wheels compare it with theirs to see if I have any missing parts or is everything ok?
Thanks for your opinions!

That is what i need to discover, and then if complete, y would like to test it.
possibly the "brake mechanic" was not familiar with this kind of abs, there are few explorers here

The 94s all had 4 wheel abs as stated above

The front rotors would have vanes on the backside for the sensors to read. Using non abs rotors without the vanes would result in loss of abs or why he is calling an “abs delete”

Trucks that only had RABS (rear) the abs module is on the frame rail near rear axle

All 4 wheel abs trucks have the pump under the hood

All 94 in USA had front abs I do not think it was an option to buy one without

It is really easy to buy rotors for a 91-94 that do not include the abs “fingers” or vanes” on the backside

The early abs SUCKS I always delete it

If you drive on dirt roads at all, ABS in the 1st Gens sucks. I remember going down a steep loose slope. The ABS kicked in and the Explorer wouldn't stop. It was a bouncy ride to the bottom.

How do you delete it?

Remove the ABS relay in the under hood fuse box. Deleted.

I removed all the ABS, including all the wiring and pump when I did a solid axle swap. Pulling the relay killed the dash light.

Txs 410
Are the Vanes of the rotors visible with the weels in place? Just to check if it has the originals

I know my 1st gen has front ABS. Had to buy a special socket for the ABS sensors.
the vanes might not be visible because of the dust shield?
