My 2000 Ex has the 4.0 OHV and for the past few weeks has a weird issue. Intermittently, it just won't want to start. If I wiggle the crank sensor just a little bit, it'll start right up. Anyone else run into this? Do I need to replace it? Should I look for a short? I've never run into...

Now that you mention that, the PO replaced the ground cable and its ground to the starter.

Is this part bolted on the transmission side or the transfer case side? I sold the trans from a '99 I'm parting out but I still have the transfer case.

Pulled the spark plugs, and there was a mix of oil, antifreeze and fine aluminum particles all over them. I'm calling it scrap. Guess I'll see if I can get any $$ out it.

I finally got the motor out of the '99 Ex parts truck. Pulled the valve cover off and discovered a mess. Most of the plastic guide was swimming around the top of the head, and the chain broke. There are several large and small pieces down in the bottom of the valley. Should I worry about...

I need to get some keys made for both my Explorers. I have heard that aftermarket keys don't work very well. Is it true? The dealer wants $125/each to make keys. For 4 keys that's $500!!! I don't wanna redneck a cheap fix if I don't have to.

What color did ford use for the O-rings on the intake of the 4.0L OHC? I took the intake off my parts truck and it had red O-rings but they looked to be in good shape. I've seen one installation with blue O-rings. I didn't know if the aftermarket used a different color.

That's what I thought. I'm wondering if I should keep the trans. My truck is a 2WD and this parts truck is 4x4, so is it as easy as swapping tail housings?

I'm gonna part out a '99 Explorer XLT, but I wanna keep the motor (rebuildable). Being it has a transfer case, should I pull the whole drivetrain out as a unit, or should I separate them? It looks like it'll be difficult with the transfer case attached.
