Is there a trick to getting access to the bellhousing bolts on the 4.0L OHC? I tried about every position I could think of and I can't access the top four bolts. They're on so tight I have to use a breaker bar. All I have to do is get these bolts loose and the torque conv. bolts, and I'm ready to pull. Then I can part out the rest of the truck.
This is fast approaching the "It's just not worth it" category!!!

The trick is to use many long ratchet extensions. There is also a removable access panel under the console and carpeting. The trouble with using long extensions is that they tend to twist under pressure (like a torsion bar) and absorb the energy you're trying to apply. If you have an impact wrench you might try that on the extensions. It would probably be enough to shock the bolts loose.
