We'll just have to see come spring time!

Ya, the T stands for turbo, and my uncle had the first one in florida. If you can DRIVE a stick then that car can move. Just one other thing though, I'd do some checking on the eclipses, I heard that those little 2.0's don't last too long with the power they make. Just a little info.

And to add to my list, my girlfriend smoked a new Ch#%$ Blazer 2dr yesterday in my truck.

I don't have a lot of time so I'll just note the two most impressive: Lotus (I'm not sure which model, but they're all fast) and a Mustang 5.0

Ok, guess I have to add my 2 cents....I've raced everything from a Mustang Cobra to my Dad's Mercedes SLK. I beat most sports cars like Eclipses and Pontiacs. I can kick the @ss of any Camaro, even a Z28 (stock). The only cars (or trucks) I've ever lost to were a Cobra after 3rd gear, my Dad's SLK after 2nd, and my Mom's Lexus LS400. The Lexus can kick anyone's butt! Though, some of the cars I race can get me after about 90 or so: they have higher top ends. I'm putting my Hypertech chip in tomorrow. We'll see after that. It's late, I'm chatty. Sorry.

All I have to say is I've beat v-6 mustangs and camaros without too much trouble and some eclipses and other kinds of ricers. I think it is cause of the 230 ft. lbs. of torque that my SOHC puts out. As far as j**ps go, I smoked a v-6 grand ch*rokee easily so the guy said that he didn't see the light turn green.....bull.

Now on this topic of speed-I haven't lost yet with my 2000 Explorer Sport SOHO. I love to waste Jeeps, oh and Jettas- expecially in the snow! I love to go around them laughing all the way until they're a spec in my mirror! When I first got my explorer back in December we had a fairly good snow and I take a dirt road to work and skip the freeway. So I came upon a sabb that was stuck in the snow and wasn't going anywhere. So I pull up, put down the window, and ask the driver if he wants a push, a ride, or to call for help. He looks at me sheepishly and says he's going to try and back down the hill to his house. So I say good luck (it was obvious that he wasn't going to be able to do that b/c his tires were digging him in deeper every time he gunned the engine)and continued on my way to work laughing. Made my day.
A couple of days ago I wasted some kind of Lexus sedan thing-guy was so shocked he just had to catch up and pass me. I don't know what my 0-60 time is supposed to be, but I do know at a dead stop I can beat most cars on the road. Anyway, I'm very pleased with my Explorer and wish I'd purchased one earlier. I love the power and the off-roading is awesome. Drive on!

Jen - I've never been so turned on in my life... LOL just kidding... good to see you posting again, hope your planning on going with me to Saxon Mountain in a few weeks with your bro... let me know...

Anyways, back to the subject. My Explorer has a very small amount of power but its really nobodies fault but my own. My 98 F-150 with the 4.6L I used to take to the local drag strip and after getting confused looks from everyone, I would proceed to complete the 1/4 miles in approximately 18-19.5 seconds (I know its slow but it was fun)... haven't taken my Explorer up there due to the fact that whenever I get it over 70 it starts making noises that aren't healthy Dead Link Removed.

LMAO you people crack me up. You can beat 5.0 Mustangs and Z28 Camaros with your K&N? ROTFLMFAO!!!!

You sure thats a Z28 Camaro? Or just a V6 with Z28 badges? Dead Link Removed

Alec, What year is your Mom's LS400? My 98 has the new VVT-i 290hp V8, it is one FAST 4,000lb sedan! I had a Cadillac STS before it, and the LS400 is faster no question. 0-60 time of the 98+ is something like 6.3 seconds.

Jen, Most likely that was a Lexus ES300 or perhaps a GS300 or SC300 on a bad day. Come race my Lexus, I'll show you what the relentless persuit of perfecion really means, as you will be relentlessly persuing me Dead Link Removed

5.9, From your name I presume you have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited? Nice truck, it almost got me out of Explorers back when I traded last time, Ford made me an offer on my current Explorer I couldn't refuse though. Kinda easy to laugh when you've got the fastest truck in the house huh? Don't rule us Explorers out though, with some mods we can keep up with you, I don't know about a z28 Camaro though...

Yes it is a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited. 245hp and 345ft/lbs of torque stock. I have no problem with Explorers, just ppl who post bs. It seems like there are some guys here that wax Grand Cherokees anytime they want. I hope they mean the V6s. And then this guy that beats Z28s and hangs with Cobras until third gear. Please. You know just as well as I do that thats bs.

Well, maybe I've just had good luck and those cars have had bad drivers. All I know is, my truck is pretty fast: It has a little over 200 horses and weighs a lot less (2door) than many cars. That's what gives it the speed.

You know I almost bought a 5.9L Grand Cherokee when I was shopping for my Explorer, couldn't justify the dough though. Gotta say though that a 5.9L in an SUV is just plain awesome, wish I had the dough to put a bigger engine in my explorer then my underpowered, weak little 4.0L. Maybe by the time I sell my Explorer there'll be some 5.9 Liter Grand Cherokees out there for a good deal. I saw one the other day (I don't think it was the 5.9L but it was a Grand Cherokee) that just looked incredible, made my Explorer look like a blocky, ugly hung of metal Dead Link Removed. I agree, people who say they are keeping up with Cobras, probably keeping up with them when they are being driven by old ladies who don't realize they are racing Dead Link Removed.

Not neccisarily 5.9. Lots of factors can contribute to who wins a race. Fact is though, the Explorer isn't a speed machine, and when in the hands of a professional driver, racing something like a Z28 driven by a professional driver, the Z28 is going to win.

Alec, you forgot to tell me what year your Mom's LS400 is. Check out my previous post Dead Link Removed

A Cobra will do 0-60 in mid 5s, which is the end of second gear. Your Explorer does 0-60 in mid 5s? An auto Z28 runs mid 6s and mid to low 14s in the 1/4. And You must be forgetting to list that blower or 100 shot that you have. He said that the Z was an auto. No way that you could miss a shift. Then how da hell did he win?

Alec I see you erased your post. So you admit that it was bs?

As far as I know, and this is from Car and Driver, the quickest unmodified Explorer is the late model Sport with the SOHC engine and 4.10 gears. It is quoted at 16.2 seconds in the quarter mile, and I think the high 8's in 0-60. I remember reading that the 5.9L Cherokee is a couple of tenths quicker in the quarter. Don't know how the top end is, or the 0-60.

Modified is a different story with all vehicles. I've seen times on a V-6 F-150 with a few mods (intake, exhaust, chip) doing low 16's, so simple mods can make quite a difference.

Unfortunately, when you put larger tires on like I did, you lose a few tenths. Dead Link Removed Still, its a fun ride. Those Cherokees are contenders, that's for sure.

Even my 90 Mustang 5.0 hit 60 in 6.0 seconds. These new ones, at least the Cobras with DOHC's, are even quicker. Don't know about the V-6 or SOHC 4.6 times, though.

Car & Driver tested the 2000 Cobra R on the show today. It does 0-60 in 4.3. Quarter times are in low 13's. That's a fine lookin' car!

I want one of those Cobra R's. Or maybe, I can just put the letter R on my back window (along with the prerequisite coffee can exhaust).

Seriously, there are a lot of Mustang owners that go through a lot to get to those low 13's.

Now what I wanta know is how the hell did Big Poppa beat a Mustang (assuming it was a 5.0) even with the inside lane with only a K&N airfilter and modified airbox. Big Poppa give me the secret...please!

Maybe the Mustang wasn't racing. Dead Link Removed

Seriously, there are a multitude of vehicles I'd rather be in if I were racing for titles. None of them include my Explorer. I'm not saying its slow, but there's plenty faster.

If you want slow, I had a 1979 318 Dodge pickup with 118K miles and almost no compression left. I couldn't pull a boat over 50 MPH on the freeway, and that's on flat ground. Just wouldn't go any faster. Left a pretty big cloud of oil smoke behind it too. The truck was just plain worn out from towing by its previous owner.
