Hey all. I use to have a 94 Sport but now have an 00 Limited with the 5.0. I need to change the plugs and I couldn't find which was better to go with. I saw a lot of posts but nothing I was really looking for. I am trying to figure out if I should go with the regular plugs or go with Platinum. Not sure which runs better with the 5.0. I know with my wrangler to stay with the non plats so was just trying to figure it all out.

thanks!

Go to the dealer and get the factory parts, wires too

The best plugs made are the originals (Motor craft). If you know how to read you will figure out why! I know they cost $7+ but it's worth every dime! You can buy $3 plugs. Bad idea!!!

Motorcraft plugs and Motorcraft wires. Easy. And when you do the swap, pull out your fender well lining and you'll have all the room you could ever ask for. :D

S-525I am one of those geeks that puts my oldies back in the box, mark them and dis-organize them. I have been running variations of the Ford 6 and 289/302 throughout my life.

Why U got 2 f w me?

eh?

Well, The only reason I say so is that the Motorcraft plugs are by spec (by Ford). "Autocraft" were licenced somehow for the fine wire platinum units. That's fine.

When you use the cheep plugs (Without the proper design) you are gambling with your investment.

Look, sounds prim and proper, but just don't mess up! We have enough here!

I've been running copper tip plugs for a while now....

A general rule of thumb is that copper fire better, but don't last as long as platinum.

I'll always use Motorcraft or Autolite for the same reasons everyone else always gives. I used Autolite copper briefly this summer, but in the course of troubleshooting for an unrelated issue, I put Motorcraft Double Plats back in (they are recommended spec after all). I had gone with coppers for the reasons mentioned in this thread. They work great, but don't last as long. Just stick with whatever Motorcraft or Autolite you want to use and you'll be satisfied.

Great thanks guys! I will see what I can find.

I use autolite double platinum especially after the last set put in by a previous owner rusted into the head an caused a $800 repair...
