01-05 Sport Trac 4x4 Lift Options Discussion

35x12.50 BF Goodrich KM2s. Also the wheels are 17" just for size.

Yes you can use the stock bolts for the TT and all you would need to buy is either the AAL or shackles and then get an allignnent.

Just my .02, I did a TT and shackles and wish I did the AL instead.... my springs started to sag bad after about 8 months. I'm hoping if I AAL now it'll help a bit... but I'll probably be buying super lift springs this summer if not a whole kit.

I liked the aal better than the shackles but am now considering new leaf springs altogether.

I wish I had done the AAL instead as well but I kind of like how soft the rear springs are now that it's mostly a trail rig. However for road driving if rather have more positive arch and stiffness.

How out of alignment does it get when you do the tt?

Well, my thinking was, I will be getting new wheels and tires in the next three weeks, and figured i would do the alignment at the same time as that, and my tires are still good on there right now. I have some down time this weekend, so thought I would work on it. Will it look goofy?

It won't be visually noticeable. How much you drive in the meantime will determine if there'll be uneven wear.

So...I did the add a leaf thing. Raised the back 2.5 inches. Doing the torsion twist, one side had more lift than the other just because of the bolts. I evened it out and got 1.5 inches out of it. The truck doesn't look terribly uneven though. In fact, it is barely noticeable. Final measurement was 38 to the top of the wheel well in the back, and 35 7/8 on the front. I think all in all, the front is only about an inch lower, if i'm using a level properly. I may end up getting some torsion keys, or a longer bolt, just so I can get a half inch more out of it.

All that being said, the aal....brilliant. I like the way it makes the truck feel. Much more sure of itself and felt more smooth.

ok i try to lift my trac today by tt up 1.5 in' by trying to lift it the blot broke i as twist the blot after that i left it alone idk what to do here a picture

need help plz

Not sure what to do about that but you should always mans sure to have the weight off the front suspension when doing the TT to avoid broken or sheared bolts.

Ok, well try not to drive the vehicle if you can avoid it. Take a propane torch (can be small handheld can torch or full cutting torches) to the bolt to heat it up and remove the remaining bolt. Either get a new bolt from the parts store or dealer or since you're doing a TT anyway buy a pair of longer torsion bar bolts from Todd at Zabteck.com. keep us updated on how things go. Good luck.

well i got the blot out now had some help with it now i need to get a new blot.

Glad you got the bolt out.

I wasn't sure if you did or not, that's how I've seen a lot of torsion bolts broken. And maybe a future reader will come along and it'll help them. At least it's as easy as ordering a new bolt now.

Got my bolts yesterday. Gonna put it on tomorrow now all I need is the to get bigger tires for the truck any ideas what size I should get I'm gonna use stock rim.
