02 explorer charging system

Hi all, does an 02 explorer pcm/ecm need to see rpm for alternator to charge? I know the excitement wire I on the regulator needs to see 8-10 volts mine sees 2.2 but i run holley terminator x so no engine sensors pluged into oem ecu. Thanks

I don’t think so
The power for the internal voltage regulator comes from the instrument cluster battery light
I do not think the pcm has anything g to do with alternator charging in 02

There are fusible
Links in the alternator hot wires near the battery and smart junction box commections

As long as the voltage regulator is powered the alternator will make juice
