02 fog lamp install?

hey all. i've been looking everywhere for detailed information on this subject and only find bits and pieces. i'm driving an 02 xlt and i'm loving it. the only thing that it doesn't have for me is fog lights. i'm wanting to install the factory lights to keep the clean, stock look of everything. has anyone done this? i know there's a kit, but my understanding is that it comes with a different switch than would have come stock. is there a way to hook it up to the headlight control switch if you buy the one that pulls out to control the fogs? i'm also in need of detailed instructions (wiring, etc.) because i've never done this before and have no clue what i'm doing. thanks all. i figured if anyone could help me out, they'd be here.

You can find an 02 in the junk yard and buy everything you need, there are 02's in the yards but you may have to look a bit.
I would think ordering th eparts from Ford would be expensive.
I am sure you can get the lights aftermarket, replacement style that would plug right into your truck up front.
Then the interior switch and bezel, the harness is likely behind your dash already so you just plug it in.
Then add the relay and fuse is your 02 does not have them and your golden.

so . . . are you saying you think the 02 xlt is prewired for foglights? i'm thinking i should just be able to switch out the headlight control knob/dimmer for the one that has foglight controls as well. would the relay simply be a plug and play type thing or would there be wiring involved?

I found a dealership that will do the complete factory foglight install, parts and labor, for $300. sound like a good price. i've been looking around and the kit itself was running around $215 or so.

I have an '04 with Fogs and the right front got cracked. Found ebay has them for like $40 each shipped. Not sure about the switch and relay on ebay but you could get those from a dealer. I would expect it all the wireing to be there, and it should be plug and play.

i replaced the dimmer switch from a xlt (i have xls) and mine didnt have the fog light, and now the one with the auto lamp and fog light, the scroll dimmer switch messes up. The lights will turn on when you press your unlock button on your remote or when you open your door, but the same setting your gauges will be dim. When you make your gauges bright, the lights wont turn on. A bit confusing but its the best i can explain it
