'96 XLT V8 5.0 2WD
Hi,

I'm currently looking for a new radiator for my '96 explorer. It's a V8 5.0L engine and when searching for a new radiator I found several offers for 1- and 2-row radiators. Does anybody know which one I need for the '96 V8?

Here are also some pictures:

Many greetings from Germany,

My 5.0 had a 2 row. The only used one I could find was a single row. The salvage yard said it was removed from a 2000 Explorer. So far I've had no problem with it. Not really sure if it will be good enough for towing though.

I have a 1997 5.0L V8 and it takes a 2 row core radiator. Measure the external sizes (length, width, height) of the radiator and compare that to the ones listed. And also make sure they have transmission coolant connections in the right spot.

Measurements for my radiator with an aluminum core and plastic tanks on the sides. All plastic tank measurements were made at the top where they are largest:

Core length: 21"
Core width: 2"
Core height: 24"
Core type: 2 row, Aluminum.
Tank type: Plastic, 2
Left tank length: 3"
Left tank width: 2 1/2"
Left tank height: 24"
Right tank length: 2"
Right tank width: 2 1/2"
Right tank height 23"
Transmission lines: Yes, left side.
Coolant Inlet: Top right 1 1/2" Diameter.
Coolant Outlet: Bottom left 1 1/2" Diameter.
Drain: Bottom right 3/8".

I replaced my radiator with a "Ready Rad" brand from Advance Auto Parts which has the part number 431328. It has been working fine ever since. I'm sure if you get one with the right dimensions you can get it from just about anywhere.
