1988 Ranger Tune-up Trouble

My Ranger is due for a tuneup and I have a problem. I can't get my hands in or around the distributor to get the cap off. Am I missing something, is there a procedure to follow. How do I get the cap off? Thanks for any help.

do you have the 2 retaining spring clips that hold the cap down??? if so, all it takes is a flathead screwdriver between the cap and the spring, twist and thats it...if you are looking at it, one clip will be at 5 o'clock and the other dirrectly on the other side of the cap...i hope this helps...

Thanks for replying, now that I look real close with extra light I can see the hold down screws, and it looks like I'll have to remove all of the wires to get the cap off. The last time I replaced a distributor cap was on a Chevy v8 and I had lots of room. Thanks again.
